AKTIV Against Cancer Launches Landmark Partnership with Columbia University

AKTIV Against Cancer has partnered with Columbia University and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center to implement the Exercise Oncology Instructor (EOI) Certification Course within Columbia’s Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and clinical application, the program is designed to develop AKTIV-Instructors who are proficient in exercise oncology, movement literacy, behavior change coaching, cancer-specific exercise considerations, and patient documentation.

In parallel with this educational initiative, AKTIV Against Cancer and Columbia are working toward the development of a temporary onsite AKTIVcenter within the Columbia Radiology – Avon Foundation Breast Imaging Center (1130 St. Nicholas Avenue, 1st Floor, New York, NY). The center will serve as a dedicated space to support patients through individualized exercise programming while further advancing the integration of exercise oncology into both patient care and healthcare education.

Through these innovative partnerships, educational programs, and patient-centered initiatives, AKTIV Against Cancer continues to lead the global movement to make exercise a recognized, accessible, and essential standard of cancer care.
